and discipline worthy of a great nation.

Come forward as servants of Islam, organise the people economically, socially, educationally

and politically and I am sure that you will be a power that will be accepted by everybody.

Failure is a word unknown to me.

Islam expect every Muslim to do this duty, and if we realise our responsibility

time will come soon when we shall justify ourselves worthy of a glorious past.

No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you.

No struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men.

Our object should be peace within, and peace without.

We want to live peacefully and maintain cordial friendly relations

with our immediate neighbours and with the world at large.

Pakistan not only means freedom and independence but the Muslim Ideology

which has to be preserved, which has come to us as a precious gift

and treasure and which, we hope other will share with us.

That freedom can never be attained by a nation without suffering

and sacrifice has been amply borne out by the recent tragic happenings

in this subcontinent.

There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen.

There is a great competition and rivalry between the two.

There is a third power stronger than both, that of the women.

Think 100 times before you take a decision,

But once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man.

We are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that

our women are shut up within the four walls of the houses as prisoners.

There is no sanction anywhere for the deplorable condition in which

our women have to live.

We should have a State in which we could live and breathe as free men

and which we could develop according to our own lights and culture

and where principles of Islamic social justice could find free play.

With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing

worthwhile that you cannot achieve.

You have to stand guard over the development and maintenance of Islamic democracy,

Islamic social justice and the equality of manhood in your own native soil.

આપણે ત્યાં અમિતાભ બચ્ચન સહિતના સ્ટાર્સ ટીવી શો હોસ્ટ કરે છે, જ્યારે ઓપ્રા વિન્ફ્રે ટીવી શોને હોસ્ટ કરીને સેલિબ્રિટી બની ગયાં છે. અમેરિકામાં ઓપ્રા વિન્ફ્રેના નામથી ચાલતો ટીવી શો અત્યંત લોકપ્રિય હતો. તેમના શોમાં વિશ્વભરની સેલિબ્રિટીઝ આવતી હતી. ભારતમાંથી માત્ર એશ્વર્યા રાય અને રાજપીપળાના પ્રિન્સ માનવેન્દ્રસિંહ જેવા જૂજ લોકોને જ તેમાં બોલાવાયાં છે. અમેરિકામાં અશ્વેત લોકોને આજે પણ રંગભેદનો સામનો કરવો પડે છે. ઓપ્રા રંગભેદ સહિતના તમામ વિઘ્નો પસાર કરીને આગળ આવ્યાં છે. આજે ૨૦મી સદીના સૌથી ધનવાન આફ્રિકી-અમેરિકનમાં તેઓ પહેલા નંબરે આવે છે. માર્ક ટ્વેઈનની ‘એડવેન્ચર ઓફ હકલબરી ફિન’ જ્યાં આકાર પામી છે એ મિસિસિપી નદીના કાંઠે અત્યંત ગરીબ કુટુંબમાં ઓપ્રાનો જન્મ થયેલો. ૧૯૭૧માં તેમને રેડિયોમાં સમાચાર વાંચવાની નોકરી મળી એ તેમનો મીડિયા સાથેનો પહેલો સબંધ. અશ્વેત હોવા છતાં તેમનું સૌંદર્ય આકર્ષણનું કેન્દ્ર છે. નાની-મોટી બ્યુટી કોન્ટેસ્ટમાં તેઓ વિજેતા રહી ચૂક્યાં છે. ૧૯૭૬થી તેઓ ટેલિવિઝન સાથે જોડાયાં અને આજે તો પોતાની ચેનલનાં માલિક છે. ટેલિવિઝન પર સૌથી સફળ લેડી તરીકે ‘ટાઈમ’ મેગેઝિને તેમને કવર પર ચમકાવ્યાં હતાં.

એમની લાઈફ પર એક નજર..

* ઓપ્રાનાં માતા-પિતાએ ક્યારેય લગ્ન કર્યાં ન હતાં. તેઓ સાથે રહેતાં અને ઓપ્રાના જન્મ બાદ નોખાં પડી ગયેલાં.

* ઓપ્રા રીડિંગનાં શોખીન છે. ભણવામાં પણ તેમણે ઘણીબધી સ્કોલરશિપ મેળવી હતી.

* એક સમયે ઓપ્રાના સાથીદાર સ્ટીડમાન ગ્રેહામ હતા. ૧૯૮૬માં તેઓ અલગ પડી ગયા. શા માટે અલગ પડયા તેના વિશે કોઈને ખબર નથી. એ પછીથી વિન્ફ્રે એકલાં જ છે.

* વિવિધ ચેરિટીઓ દ્વારા તેમણે કુલ ૫.૧ કરોડ ડોલર જેવી રકમ ભેગી કરી આપી છે. તો વળી તેમની અંગત સંપત્તિ (સપ્ટેમ્બર, ૨૦૧૦ પ્રમાણે) ૨.૭ અબજ ડોલર છે.

* તેઓ કેલિફોર્નિયામાં આવેલા ૪૨ એકર (૧,૭૦,૦૦૦ ચોરસ મીટર) માં ફેલાયેલા પોતાના ‘ધ પ્રોમિસ્ડ લેન્ડ’ નામના મહેલ જેવા મકાનમાં રહે છે.

* ઓપ્રાનું કોઈ કાયમી સાથીદાર હોય તો એમનું ડોગી છે. માર્ચ ૨૦૦૮માં ઓપ્રાના ૧૩ વર્ષના કૂતરા સોફીનું મોત થયું ત્યારે ઓપ્રાના નીઅર-ડિઅરે સોફીને અંજલિ પણ આપેલી.

* હોલીડે પરનો તેમનો કાર્યક્રમ ‘ઓપ્રા’સ ફેરવિટ થિંગ્સ’ સૌથી વધુ જોવાતો કાર્યક્રમ હતો.

* હાર્પર લીએ લખેલી કથા ‘ટી કિલ અ મોકિંગબર્ડ’ તેની ફેવરિટ બૂક છે.

* તેની પ્રોડક્શન કંપનીનું નામ હાર્પો પ્રોડક્શન (Harpo Productions) છે, જેમાં તેનું પોતાનું નામ (Oprah) ઊલટું આવે છે.

* તેના મેગેઝિનનું નામ માત્ર ‘ઓ (‘O’,)’ છે. એ મેગેઝિનના દરેક કવર પર ઓપ્રાનો ફોટો હોય જ છે. એક જ વખત ઓપ્રાને બદલે ફર્સ્ટ લેડી મિશેલ ઓબામાને સ્થાન મળેલું.

* ટ્વિટર પર તેમના ૮૫,૭૨,૩૮૫ ફોલોઅર્સ છે.

* તેમણે પોતાના વજનમાં ૪૧ કિલોગ્રામ જેટલો જંગી ઘટાડો કરવામાં સફળતા મેળવી છે.

* ગ્રીન ઓપ્રાનો ફેવરિટ કલર છે.

* તેમના પર નાનપણમાં બળાત્કાર થયેલો એટલે ૧૪ વર્ષનાં હતાં ત્યારે જ તેમણે એક બાળકને જન્મ આપવો પડેલો. જોકે આ બાળકનું ટૂંક સમયમાં જ મોત થઈ ગયેલું.

The genius of Chaplin. Back in the 40's, critics thought his message came straight from a pipe dream.

Today, we can say that these critics were living in a pipe dream of their own.

His message is clear and its something we all want. Let's not forget to "fight" for it.

He did not blink his eyes during speech and siad
"I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an Emperor - that's not my business.
I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone,
if possible -- Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another;
human beings are like that. We want to live by each other's happiness, ......."

His speech made me awake of what is going on right now. This man is unbelievable.

It's amazing how strong this speech is. It's been decades, and it is as strong as ever.

I find it scary and ironic, that this was made so many years ago but applies today more than ever.

National barriers cannot facilitate governance, they only interrupt the natural flow of life, of which people are inescapably a part of.
They facilitate capitalist interests and you're right, the EU, the African Union, the emerging Pacific Union and the coming American Union- are examples of how the few elite ARE
taking over the world. Barriers in any form, make possible the hoarding of resources, and as a byproduct, determine who is "free", and who is not.

borders of nations that we created are not natural. This is a human act onto things to separate us from the rest.
There is always a misconception about politicians and governments. They are not your leaders they are your servants, they are there to manage our affairs.

How I wish everyone would be born blind in this world. So that we won't be able to see our differences. We won't be mesmerized by sparkling things.
And we would live with the help of one another in a world of darkness where there is hope.
Human beings are born perfect. The only thing that make us imperfect are these judgmental eyes that we have.
